Tony Elumelu is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential Corporate Leaders in Nigeria. Mr. Elumelu epitomizes a new generation of prolific African entrepreneurs. An avid proponent of Public-Private-Partnership for nation building, he has served and continues to serve on many presidential committees.

He is the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), Chairman of Board of ValuCard Nigeria Plc, President of the West African Bankers Association (WABA) and a board member of Central Securities Clearing Systems Limited (CSCS) and United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Limited among many others. He is strongly afro-centric and is driven by his vision of creating an institution which will be a role model for African business”.

Elumelu conceived and managed the merger of Standard Trust Bank Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc in a union that created the largest financial services group in West, Central & East Africa today.
A research economist with degrees at both graduate and post graduate levels. Tony is an Alumnus of both Harvard Business School and Institute of Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland. He has won numerous awards including being voted the African Business Leader of the Year 2007 by Investor Magazine. Mr. Elumelu holds the prestigious National Honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (”MFR”) and was in March, 2008 awarded the degree of Doctor of Business Administration by the first indigenous Nigerian University; the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
